Race to the post-season AFC Empty Race to the post-season AFC

Post by Hellcat Tue Oct 02, 2012 11:01 am

It's that time of year again, The race to the post-season is on! we are in week 13 and lets take a look at the divisional and wildcard races.

AFC West:
Probably the division that needs little to no coverage at all. The Raiders are sitting at 10-1 and had clinched the division in Week 1. the Chiefs, Chargers and Broncos should be thinking of who to draft with their 1st round picks.
1)Raiders: 10-1 #1 Seed in AFC
2)Chiefs: 4-7
3)Broncos: 3-8
4)Chargers: 3-8

AFC South:
Another division that is almost in the wraps. Texans cruising by, they have 2 key divisonal games coming up against the Colts, which could determine the divison if the Colts run the table. Colts will need to find an easier way to get into the playoffs, and the wildcard race is already tight! As for the Titans and Jags...Draft is right around the corner!
1)Texans: 9-2 #2 Seed in AFC
2)Colts: 6-5
3)Titans: 3-8
4)Jags: 1-10

AFC North:
Finally, a division that is worth noting for competitiveness. the Steelers and Browns...did i read that correctly? Yes the Browns are both locked in at 8-3 and fighting for this divisional spot, which would insure one of them a home playoff game. Yet more bottom feeders...draft is close guys!
1)Browns: 8-3 #4 Seed in AFC
2)Steelers: 8-3 #5 Seed in AFC
3)Ravens: 2-9
4)Bengals: 2-9

AFC East:
Probably the most competitive division in the AFC (Not saying much/damn you PTC for leaving us) Has the closest race of all the divisions in the AFC. the Jets currently have a 1.5 game lead over the the trailing Bills who have been on a red hot surge as of late. the Patriots trail both but have swept the Jets and been swept by the Bills. And the Dolphins are not entirely out of it either. Lots needs to happen, but hey anything is possible. The division crown could come down to the Bills/Jets week 17 matchup.
1)Jets: 8-3 #3 Seed in AFC
2)Bills: 7-4 #6 Seed in AFC
3)Patriots: 6-5
4)Dolphins: 5-6

the overall playoff pickture looks like this:

1)Raiders: 10-1
2)Texans: 9-2
3)Jets: 8-3
4)Browns: 8-3
5)Steelers: 8-3
6)Bills: 7-4

In the Hunt:
-Patriots: 6-5
-Colts: 6-5
-Dolphins: 5-6

At this rate, we can see the Raiders and Texans remain as the 1 and 2 and get in with the byes. the real competition is the 3-6 slots. Those slots are up for grabs. It will come down to some intense remaining games.

Key Games:
-Bills/Jets Week 17
