Jaguars Fall Short On Tough Loss
Last night's Week 13 game between the Jacksonville-Baltimore ended in familiar fashion, with a 38-35 loss that could've easily gone for the better for the Jaguars. Jacksonville fans were happy for one thing this morning: they didn't have to watch another tough home loss.

In Baltimore, the team played much better than the past several weeks. The run game was working, the defense wasn't particularly inconsistent for once, and even David Garrard decided to show up for the game. But when it came to getting the ball back with just over two minutes left, the defensive unit delivered with a 3 and out stand, while the offense floundered to result in another loss for the Jags.

Altogether, the pass game was more efficient than in recent weeks. Garrard put up a solid 4:2 TD to INT ratio (before the game the team as a whole was putting up a 9:23 ratio) while passing for over 300 yards and pushing the Ravens defense up the field drive after drive. However, Garrard is still rumored to be in management's doghouse, with an offseason move for a QB imminent. His favorite targets were weekly performers Marcedes Lewis (4 Catches, 54 Yards, TD) and Mike Sims-Walker (4 Catches, 149 Yards, 2 TDs), while Brooks Foster (3 Catches, 101 Yards, TD) stepped up to compensate for a rare, nearly invisible performance by Mike Thomas.

The run game, although limited, was effective as usual. Kenarious Fluellen put up another solid performance with a 6.75 YPC and a touchdown although limited to another sub-100 yard game due to a need to pass. Greg Jones also added in some crucial yards, picking up several first downs on 3 carries to the tune of 7 YPC. Altogether another decent, yet underwhelming, rush attack from the Jaguars.

The shining moment of yet another week was the defense, which played very solidly albeit unspectacularly (as is the forte of this defensive unit). Allowing less than 300 yards by the Ravens, the defense held strong at several crucial points of the game, forcing 3 field goals and also allowing only two 3rd Down conversions on 8 attempts by the Ravens. Terrance Knighton was crucial to the run defense, with 3 stops behind the line to keep Jamal Charles bottled up. Altogether, the Jaguars defense managed to bottle up the usually explosive Charles for only 82 yards in total. The pass defense seemed to hold up relatively well, allowing several receptions to multiple receivers, but only allowing 35 yards at most to a receiver and no touchdowns to any WRs or TEs. However, Charles struck in the pass game to the tune of 4 receptions for 95 yards and 2 TDs. Special Teams also suffered from the Ravens speed players, getting gashed for yet another return touchdown last night in a continuance of shoddy special teams play all season long.

Next week Jacksonville faces division rival Tennessee away in a must-win rematch of the earlier week 5 loss 28-24 in Jacksonville.

Minor Roster Matters
The Jaguars made a minor move to improve the defense Thursday night. Coach Jack Del Rio announced the awarding of CB A.J. Jefferson off of waivers from Arizona and the release of S Donald Washington. Jefferson is looked at as a project cornerback with decent potential to be nickelback or dimeback in the future. Washington played special teams primarily and served as a backup safety, receiving little no snaps on defense each game since his addition in week 3.

Jaguars Win Tough Battle in Cincy
The Sunday night game between Jacksonville and Cincinnati was a close one. In the end the Jags prevailed in a 20-10 victory.

A tough Jaguars defense once again won the day. Giving up a total of 210 yards, the defense came away with two crucial interceptions (by Alphonso Smith and Michael Huff) and a fumble recovery. With an uncharacteristically ineffective offense, the defense stepped up to ensure a Jaguars victory.

The lackluster offense put up little on the board, with less than 100 rushing yards, barely over 150 passing yards, and a redzone interception by the now-hated David Garrard. Jaguars fans have of recent been calling for a trade, and Coach Jack Del Rio seems obliged to send Garrard to another city.

Next week the Jaguars begin the the last stretch of the season with two home games against Cleveland and Atlanta.

Jacksonville Falls to 7-8
Well the Jaguars seem to be wrapping up another disappointing season in just fashion. Tonight, Jacksonville lost 27-21 at home against Cleveland to the boos of tens of thousands of Jaguars fans.

After beginning the game with a dominant 21-10 lead and leading into the half ahead 21-13, the Jags experienced an embarrassing collapse in the second half that resulted in another defeat. The offense, in particular David Garrard, is much to blame with several turnovers that would become points on the board. The defense, normally strong, gave up yards in bunches in the last two quarters as well. All in all, another disappointing game for Jaguars fans - if they still exist after another mediocre season.

Jacksonville raps up the 2011 season with a home game against Atlanta next week.

Jacksonville Finishes 7-9
Wednesday night was the last straw for the Jaguars, who were already out of contention and was an exhibition of coaches and players fighting for their jobs next season. A tough loss to Atlanta 31-21 is exemplary of the Jaguars season as a whole: a uphill battle that simply never seemed to be going their way.

Jacksonville put up a decent fight, with an offense that looked decisive at times behind new starter Curtis Painter, while the defense also put up a strong front up until the end of the game. A poor rushing game showed Jacksonville's faults on offense, as they simply couldn't crack the Atlanta run defense.

Looking forward to next season, there seems to be some restructuring that will be going on in Jacksonville. Jaguars owner Warmaster has already announced the departure of David Garrard prematurely, however it is yet to be seen if this simply means another starter will be brought in with Garrard as backup or Garrard will be dealt on draft day.

Stay tuned for updates on the Jacksonville offseason moves, as restricted free agency nears following the playoffs.

TE Marcedes Lewis suffered a back injury that removed him from the game early in the 3rd quarter. Lewis should be good to go for training camp next year. LB Kirk Morrison and WR Marko Mitchell are also recovering from injuries, but should be healthy for training camp too, although whether Morrison will still be with the team is yet to be seen.

Season Summary Part I: Quarterback
This post marks the first of a six-part series in which Jaguars News Wire takes the past season into perspective and analyzes the roster in preparation for the offseason action to come.

David Garrard: 15 GS, 205-358 C-A, 57.26% Completion, 3250 Yards, 9.08 Yards/Completion, 17:24 TD/INT Ratio, 75.55 Rating

Garrard performed poorly this season, with a deceptive 57% completion percentage and otherwise abysmal statistics. Garrard lost his starting job the final game of the season, and seems to be on his way out of Jacksonville.

Jevan Snead: 8 GP, 26-48 C-A, 54.17% Completion, 336 Yards, 7.00 Yards/Completion, 1:5 TD/INT Ratio, 43.74 Rating

Snead played poorly in his short time on the field, but showed some glimpses of potential. He may yet stick on with Jacksonville as a potential starter in years to come, but is a developmental project only at this time.

Curtis Painter: 1 GS, 18-33 C-A, 54.55% Completion, 319 Yards, 9.67 Yards/Completion, 2:1 TD/INT Ratio, 95.41 Rating

Painter was a late season addition off of waivers following exceptionally poor play by Garrard, and only suited up for the two final games of the season. Painter started the final game of the season against Atlanta and played exceptionally in the loss, making a strong case for a roster spot next season.

Season Summary Part II: Running Back
Kenarious Fluellen 16 GS, 214 Rushes, 1280 Yards, 5.98 Yards/Carry, 18 TDs

Fluellen burst onto the scene with a terrific rookie season in which he put up very respectable numbers that earned him a spot on the AFC Pro Bowl roster. Drafted in the second round of last season's rookie draft, Fluellen was immediately promoted to starter after the offseason trade of Felix Jones to the Raiders, and went through some rookie growing pains early in the season before coming into his own later in the season as a prominent force in the Jaguars rushing attack.

Greg Jones 15 GS, 33 Rushes, 117 Yards, 3.55 Yards/Carry, 8 TDs

Jones started the entire season as fullback and earned repeat Pro Bowl honors with another solid season for the Jaguars. He only missed a single game with a minor injury, and still managed to be both a bruising run blocker and goal line back in his age 30 season. Jones looks to have several more solid seasons in him after proving his durability once again this season.

Deji Karim 8 GP, 24 Rushes, 197 Yards, 8.21 Yards/Carry, 5 TDs

With another solid season as a rotational back for Jacksonville, Karim proved effective in his 2nd season in the NFL and next year could be used as a complementary back to Kenarious Fluellen.

Rashad Jennings 8 GP, 24 Rushes, 86 Yards, 3.58 Yards/Carry, 0 TDs

Jennings played sparingly this season as a short yardage back, similarly to his usage in 2010. Jennings may return as backfield depth.

Andre Brown 1 GS, 3 GP, 3 Rushes, 4 Yards, 1.33 Yards/Carry, 2 TDs

Brown was brought in as backfield depth during the offseason, and played prominently on special teams. He also served as the backup fullback to Greg Jones, getting one start due to injuries where he ran for two touchdowns as a goal line back. Brown is up for restricted free agency this season, and may not make final cuts leading up to the draft due to costs.

Season Summary Part III: Receiver
Mike Sims-Walker 16 GS, 51 Receptions, 950 Yards, 18.63 Yards Per Reception, 4 TDs

Last season's organizational MVP, Sims-Walker put up another fantastic season but managed to be excluded from a repeat Pro Bowl appearance due to a multitude of pass-first offenses emerging in the AFC this past season. Sims-Walker is expected to once again be an integral part of the Jacksonville pass game next season.

Marcedes Lewis 16 GS, 58 Receptions, 745 Yards, 12.84 Yards Per Reception, 3 TDs

As the starting tight end, Lewis performed fantastically in both the passing game and rushing game as a brutal run blocker. Expect him to be very active once again next season, even with the emergence of Zach Miller as a viable option at tight end also.

Marko Mitchell 12 GP, 32 Receptions, 641 Yards, 20.03 Yards Per Reception, 5 TDs

The franchise's most improved player from last season, Mitchell put up fantastic statistics again this season as the fourth receiver. He proved to be a deadly deep threat and and a reliable option on 3rd downs.

Mike Thomas 14 GS, 37 Receptions, 422 Yards, 11.41 Yards Per Reception, 3 TDs

Thomas put up another decent, yet altogether unexciting season with very comparable statistics to last season. Missing several games this past season, Jacksonville will take a serious look at his value now that he is up for restricted free agency this season.

Brooks Foster 10 GS, 29 Receptions, 466 Yards, 16.07 Yards Per Reception, 3 TDs

Foster played sparingly this year due to injuries, but after another decent season while healthy, he may yet retain his starting position for next season. Foster is also up for restricted free agency, and thus could end up as a cost-saving roster cut or offseason trade.

Zach Miller 12 GP, 20 Receptions, 320, 16.00 Yards Per Reception, 1 TD

Miller was Jacksonville's number two option at tight end, seeing extensive playing time in two end sets when healthy. Similarly to last season, Miller played through several injuries during the season that limited his effectiveness.

Tiquan Underwood 5 GP, 8 Receptions, 181 Yards, 22.62 Yards Per Reception, 1 TD

Underwood entered the season as simply expendable receiver depth, and proved this season that he is a viable deep threat and very valuable also as a special teams player with x tackles on kick coverage.

Marc Mariani 2 GP, 2 Receptions, 68 Yards, 34.00 Yards Per Reception, 0 TDs

Mariani played very little this season after being claimed off of waivers from Oakland midway through the season, and simply served as receiver depth in case of injury.

Season Summary Part IV: Defensive Lineman
Aaron Kampman 14 GS, 20 Tackles, 8 Sacks, 1 FF

Kampman was awarded Pro Bowl honors once again this season for his dominant pass-rush abilities, proving once again that the aging veteran is still well worth a roster spot. Entering his 11th season in the league, Kampman is still on the block as younger players seem to be poised to take over his starting job soon in future seasons.

Terrance Knighton 16 GS, 26 Tackles, 3 Sacks

Knighton was once again his dominant self in run defense, making himself a valuable asset to the Jacksonville defense - which earned a franchise player tag from the organization. Expect Knighton back in Jaguars green next season as an integral part of the defense once again, even though he is up for restricted free agency this offseason.

Trevor Scott 16 GS, 17 Tackles, 4 Sacks

Scott started every game this season, but tallied only 17 tackles as he appeared non-existent in run prevention. However, he did rack up four sacks as a proficient pass rusher. Expect a resurgence from Scott next season.

Tyson Alualu 16 GP, 13 Tackles, 2 Sacks

Following a decent first season in which Alualu earned organizational honors for Rookie of the Year, he put up another decent season as the second string defensive tackle in a three-technique role. Both efficient in run defense and pass rushing, expect similar numbers from Alualu in his third pro season.

Landon Cohen 2 GP, 3 Tackles, 1 Sack

Cohen played well as a reserve defensive tackle, managing to get to the quarterback for a sack in his brief playing time in two games.

Austen Lane, Hall Davis, Jacob Ford, and Larry Hart

All four of these players served reserve roles on the team this season, but saw very brief stints of playing time in which none of them accrued any meaningful statistics. Look for Lane and Hart to compete for Kampman's starting position in the near future, but Davis seems relegated to a reserve role and Ford may be on the way out after being claimed off of waivers early in the season.

Post by War Sun Jan 23, 2011 8:59 pm

Season Summary Part V: Linebacker
Justin Durant 14 GS, 37 Tackles, 1 Sack, 2 INT, 1 FF

Starting another almost-entire season minus a couple games (due to injury), Durant played solidly on the strong side and was a dependable player in both pass and run defense. On a contract season, Durant is expected to earn a salary increase in restricted free agency this offseason.

Ben Jackson 15 GS, 39 Tackles, 5 Sacks

Jackson was drafted as the Jaguars second selection in the first round, expected to sit behind Kirk Morrison for a season before taking over starting duties at inside linebacker, but instead after only one game Jackson was inserted into the starting spot and played very solidly in his rookie season.

Daryl Smith 11 GS, 21 Tackles, 2 Sacks, 1 FF

After a disappointing 2010 season, Smith managed to put up another down season for a player of his caliber at weak side linebacker, throwing into question his roster spot on the team. A restricted free agent this offseason, the team will take a very good look at cost versus value for Smith.

Kirk Morrison 4 GP, 7 Tackles

After starting the first game of the season, Morrison was quickly overtaken by rookie Ben Jackson and afterward played very little as a reserve player. Morrison could be moved during the offseason.

Andy Studebaker 8 GP, 10 Tackles

Picked up as a free agent before the season, Studebaker played well on special teams and filled in appropriately during the season due to injuries. As solid depth, Studebaker has a good chance to make it through roster cuts this offseason.

Russell Allen 7 GP, 7 Tackles

Allen returned to his reserve and special teams role this season after performing well last season in this way. Another special teams leader, Allen may still crack the starting lineup if given a chance.

Joe Mays 2 GP, 3 Tackles

Signed to a minor contract during the offseason, Mays served as a reserve linebacker but simply didn't see much time on the field. Mays could be roster cut leading up to the draft.

Travis Goethel

As a developmental prospect, Goethel saw zero playing time this season, and if the coaching staff isn't impressed with his improvement over the offseason he could very easily be an offseason casualty.

Season Summary Part VI: Defensive Back
Derek Cox 16 GS, 33 Tackles, 5 INTs, 1 FF

Starting all season, first opposite Rashean Mathis and then later Alphonso Smith after the Mathis-Smith trade, Cox performed well and is seen as Mathis' replacement going forward. Expect Cox to be the #1 corner for years to come.

Michael Huff 16 GS, 41 Tackles, 1 Sack, 1 INT, 3 FFs

Acquired from Oakland before the season started, Huff moved from free safety in Oakland's system to nickelback in Jacksonville fluidly, bringing his coverage skills and hard hitting mentality to the corner position. Putting up a strong first season for the Jaguars, his play amounted to near-shutdown coverage on slot receivers and a big role in the run defense in nickel, dime, and dollar packages.

Macho Harris 16 GS, 36 Tackles, 1 INT

In his second season for Jacksonville at free safety, Harris played solidly once again as a major part in both run and pass defense. However, Harris seemed to be less of a playmaker, only getting one interception this season versus five last season.

Courtney Greene 16 GS, 48 Tackles, 2 INTs, 1 FF

Greene put up a monster year at strong safety, showing his skills at stopping the run while also performing well in pass protection when necessary. A fixture at his position, Greene is guaranteed a roster spot next season.

Alphonso Smith 12 GS, 22 Tackles, 5 INTs

Arriving in Jacksonville via trade with Detroit (for Rashean Mathis), Smith played opposite Derek Cox admirably for the majority of the season and is looked upon as a starter at corner for years to come.

Don Carey 5 GP, 11 Tackles

Carey played a major role on special teams as well as a reserve for both corner and safety. Expect Carey back next season barring an offseason trade.

Marquis Johnson 16 GP, 6 Tackles

Johnson saw little time this season as the 5th corner, but did appear in every game in some part. He may be able to crack the lineup as dime corner next season.

Gerard Lawson 7 GS, 12 Tackles, 1 INT

Lawson played dimeback corner after a mid-season signing, and could return in the same role if management decides not to give Marquis Johnson or Rashad Cook a shot.

A.J. Jefferson and Rashad Cook

Both Jefferson and Cook saw very limited time on the field, with Cook collecting a single tackle and Jefferson only playing on return duties. Cook is a restricted free agent after signing a one year deal his rookie season and is expected back with the team next season, but Jefferson could be on his way out of Jacksonville as a roster cut.

This wraps our analysis of the 2011 season, stay tuned for news on the upcoming free agency and draft period.

2011 Jaguars Award Winners
Coach Jack Del Rio announced the organizational award winners for 2011, while also applauding several players for winning league awards. Defensive end Aaron Kampman and fullback Greg Jones were both awarded back-to-back Pro Bowls, while rookie halfback Kenarious Fluellen won a Pro Bowl spot in his first season.

MVP: HB Kenarious Fluellen (214 Rushes, 1280 Yards, 6.0 YPC, 18 TDs)
Drafted in the second round, Fluellen burst onto the scene from Week 1 and took off to a monster rookie season that included a Pro Bowl nomination.

Offensive Player of the Year: HB Kenarious Fluellen (214 Rushes, 1280 Yards, 6.0 YPC, 18 TDs)
Drafted in the second round, Fluellen burst onto the scene from Week 1 and took off to a monster rookie season that included a Pro Bowl nomination.

Defensive Player of the Year: RE Aaron Kampman (20 Tackles, 8 Sacks, 1 FF)
Kampman played another Pro Bowl worthy season, even though his statistics dropped from the 15 sack mark last season. He still has a couple solid seasons left in him.

Rookie of the Year: HB Kenarious Fluellen (214 Rushes, 1280 Yards, 6.0 YPC, 18 TDs)
Drafted in the second round, Fluellen burst onto the scene from Week 1 and took off to a monster rookie season that included a Pro Bowl nomination.

Most Improved Player: TE Zach Miller (20 Receptions, 320 Yards, 16.0 YPC, 1 TD)
Miller played only a bit part last season with 7 receptions and sub-100 yards on the season, but this season truly became a part of the pass game in two tight end sets behind Marcedes Lewis. Look for an increased involvement in the pass game going forward.

Jaguars Get Off to Quick Start In Offseason
Jacksonville started the offseason with a bang, announcing the resigning of several key players: DL Terrance Knighton, LB Justin Durant, RB Deji Karim, WRs Mike Thomas and Brooks Foster, and DB Rashad Cook.

By locking up these players, Jacksonville has three remaining restricted free agents - LB Daryl Smith, OL Jason Fox, and RB Andre Brown. Smith will be a tough decision, since he was the previous starter but simply may be cost-ineffective. Fox was acquired from Detroit and will serve as offensive line depth if resigned. Brown most likely will be on his way out of Jacksonville after playing very little in a crowded backfield.

***Update***
Jacksonville released DBs A.J. Jefferson and Gerard Lawson, LB Kirk Morrison, OL Johan Asiata, TE Tom Crabtree, and QB David Garrard. Management also announced the resigning of OL Jason Fox and LB Daryl Smith, and also announced their intention to let RB Andre Brown hit free agency.

Jacksonville Completes Two Draft Day Trades
Coach Jack Del Rio of the Jaguars announced today two trades that will affect the draft for Jacksonville tremendously.

First, it was announced that a deal had been struck with Cleveland to send starting LB Daryl Smith and his large salary to the Browns for the 16th third round pick.

Trading once again with Oakland, Jacksonville acquired a starting quarterback in Jason Campbell and also acquired LB Quentin Groves in a trade that swaps first and third rounds with Oakland. Jacksonville receives the 29th pick in the first and third rounds for the 12th pick in the first and the 16th pick in the third round (acquired from Cleveland).

Stay tuned for news on the ongoing draft, as Jacksonville's first round pick is coming up and they still have two second round picks and a third round later on.

2012 Draft Summary: Jaguars
First Round 29th Pick (29th overall): SS Venice Young
A versatile safety, Young will most likely replace Courtney Greene as the starting strong safety, or could possibly end up at free safety eventually. Time will tell. Pick Grade: B+

Second Round 12th Pick (44th overall): RG R.C. Patterson
A guard who can really play all three interior line positions, Patterson has a small frame at 6'4" 296 lbs and will need some time to develop into a starting player, but looks to showcase his athleticism to make up for the small stature. Altogether, a decent pick due to the decline of LG Justin Smiley of recent years and the age of Uche Nwaneri (approaching 30). Pick Grade: B

Second Round 24th Pick (56th overall): HB Tim Thicke
A bruising power back, Thicke was the best available player on the board by far by the time Jacksonville's pick came around. However, Thicke enters an already crowded backfield and is a completely unnecessary pick. Pick Grade: C

Third Round 29th Pick (93rd overall): RG Bryan Carter
Judged to have poor potential going into the draft, Carter has a well-built 6'5" 329 lb frame but seems to lack the skill to be an elite guard going forward. Projected to be a fill-in starter and very good backup, Carter is necessary depth for Jacksonville. Pick Grade: B

Overall Draft Grade: B

Jaguars Trampled in Home Opener
It was a gloomy day in Jacksonville, and in that mood the Jacksonville season began without a bang, but with a whimper.

Losing the entirety of the game, Jacksonville's defense gave up 262 yards and five rushing touchdowns en route to a devastating 49-14 loss. The defense only held the Dolphins offense twice in seven third down attempts, much worse than usual.

Jacksonville's offense was underwhelming, but performed decently at times, moving up the field efficiently twice for a touchdown each time. However, the Jacksonville run game never got started and the new pass game under Jason Campbell suffered from pressure and poor pass choice.

Next week Jacksonville faces division rival Indianapolis for the first time this season against new coach FireMcDaniels. Expect Coach Warmaster91 to push his players in practice in expectation of a better performance on both sides of the ball. As a side note, special teams played well this week, although backup running back Deji Karim did fumble the kickoff return to begin the second half.

Jaguars Move Players Prior to Week 2 Game
Jacksonville announced today the release of 2-time Pro Bowl defensive end Aaron Kampman, whose decline with age had cost him a starting job and now ultimately a roster spot. Expect the once-dominant pass rusher to catch on with another team shortly.

At the same time, Jacksonville added some depth to their offensive line with the signing of undrafted rookie center Cap Kelso. Kelso will serve as the primary backup to Benji Tuiloma at center.

Coach Warmaster91 also announced another move: Jacksonville and Denver have agreed in principal to a trade that would send rookie running back Tim Thicke to Denver for rookie linebacker Nate Crisp and a draft pick. The trade is currently waiting for committee approval.

Update:
Tuesday night, sources in Jacksonville were claiming that the Jaguars had reached an agreement with Oakland to trade their 3rd round pick for quarterback Tony Pike. Jacksonville announced several corresponding moves - the release of previous backup Curtis Painter and third quarterback Jevan Snead. Coach Warmaster91 also announced that the Jaguars have once again signed defensive lineman Ricardo Mathews, who has played in stints for Jacksonville over the past two seasons.

Jacksonville Makes Away Opener a Big Game
Coach Warmaster91 had a rare smile on his face when reporters came to interview him post-game. Jacksonville had just beat the division rival Colts in Indy 42-21 to start a season that seemed gloomy after a crushing defeat in the home opener.

The offense and defense both performed admirably today, and even special teams played well besides the one return touchdown given up late in the game.

On offense, the run game was dominant, totaling 274 yards and altogether averaging 7.21 yards per carry. Kenarious Fluellen contributed for over half the yards while also scoring a touchdown, and behind Fluellen the remaining backs (Rashad Jennings, Greg Jones, Deji Karim) amounted to 134 yards and two touchdowns.

Jason Campbell also ran an efficient pass game, based primarily on play action, and came through in several tough situations. Finishing with a QB Rating of 121.9, Campbell was 13-21 with 164 yards and two touchdowns, while spreading the ball to six receivers. Brooks Foster was the most active with 4 receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown, while tight end Marcedes Lewis had 3 catches for a touchdown also.

The defense played admirably against the Colts' pass-oriented offense, allowing 216 yards, of which only 1 yard was rushing. Carson Palmer was held to a 50% completion percentage, while the defense came away with three interceptions (Venice Young, Michael Huff). The defensive line, especially new starter Jacob Ford, put up a very effective pass rush. Racking up two sacks, Ford and his fellow lineman made Palmer rush passes all game long - several of which ended up as interceptions.

After an effective game in Indy, Jacksonville's next game is an away game in New England Week 4 after an early bye week. Jacksonville looks to rest up and get some extra preparation for the pass-happy Patriots offense in the meantime.

Jaguars Make Roster Moves Prior to Week 4 Games
Very early Friday morning, Jacksonville press reported that the Jaguars had announced the release of recently signed OL Cap Kelso and the signing of safety Mike Newton. Newton is now the fifth safety on a Jacksonville roster usually corner heavy and safety light, making people begin to wonder if there will be a safety moved soon.

Update:
New reports state that Jacksonville and San Francisco have reached a principle agreement that would send star receiver Mike Thomas and corner/safety Michael Huff to San Fran for offensive lineman Chilo Rachal, tight end Nate Byham, and a second round pick. Currently awaiting commissioner approval, this trade seems to indicate a lack of trust in current starter Justin Smiley at guard.

Jacksonville Makes Another Big Move
No sooner had the trade with San Francisco been formalized, had Jacksonville gotten trade talks started once again.

Friday afternoon coach Warmaster announced that a deal had been struck with Oakland to bring elite corner Mike Jenkins to Jacksonville in exchange for current starter Alphonso Smith and dimeback Don Carey.

The trade is currently awaiting commissioner approval. This marks yet another salary dump on Jacksonville's part this season.

Jacksonville Victorious in New England
Saturday night's game was another good one for Jacksonville. In a 30-17 victory in New England, Jacksonville came away with a win due to all-around good play by a team that usually excels in one area while faulting in another.

Excelling on the offensive side of the ball, Jason Campbell managed to move Jacksonville downfield while the rungame would close out drives in the redzone. Kenarious Fluellen and Greg Jones each had touchdowns, with contributions for Rashad Jennings on 3rd and short situations. Campbell spread the ball to seven receivers, while putting up a solid 60 percent completion percentage.

On defense, Jacksonville held the Patriots to only a field goal through the first three quarters, to the tune of 29 rushing yards all game. Altogether the defense managed three sacks and an interception in an effort that would trouble Patriots quarterback Tom Brady all game. Special teams play was also effective, allowing few yards on returns on the defensive side while also scoring a kick return touchdown behind Deji Karim's quick feet.

Next week Jacksonville has yet another away game against the 1-3 Chicago Bears.

Jacksonville Ekes Out Victory on the Road
And a winning streak is born. With a 45-42 victory over Chicago, Jacksonville has its first winning streak in recent history. Now owning a 3-1 record, they're looking to be legitimate contenders for the AFC South title.

Jacksonville's offense looked explosive today, moving upfield every time they had the ball, settling for only one field goal and a single punt. Mistakes were costly though. A botch by receiver Marko Mitchell allowed for a pick by Chicago's Nate Clements, that would lead to a Chicago score. Also, a late fumble by Kenarious Fluellen would cost Jacksonville another touchdown. However, altogether the offense put up 400 yards beyond super-efficient play by Jason Campbell, who posted a 128.2 QB Rating and 72% Completion Percentage. Fueled by short-yardage back Rashad Jennings and starter Fluellen, the run game accounted for 4 touchdowns and a neat 156 yards rushing.

Defensively, the team could've played better. Giving up nearly 400 yards, mostly receiving, Jacksonville showed stout run defense but poor pass defense. Specifically burned by speedster Devin Hester, the pass defense gave up huge chunks of yardage in key situations, and rarely held strong in the redzone. This must improve going forward in a very pass-happy division. Safety Macho Harris and corner Mike Jenkins did each come away with key interceptions on what could've been scoring drives for Chicago.

Next week Jacksonville plays a home game against rival Tennessee. It should be a good game, and a rough one; Tennessee has embarrassed Jacksonville in their last two match ups (last season).
