Re: Jaguars News Wire
Jaguars Make Triumphant Return to Jacksonville
Coach Warmaster had a great big smile on his face after this victory. His team had just done the unforeseen. They went into the game the clear underdog, but with a 47-21 victory, Jacksonville had extended their winning streak to 4 games while beating their loud mouthed division rival Tennessee Titans led by coach Emory.
Behind two defensive touchdowns and numerous Tennessee turnovers, the defense played admirably to the tune of no rushing yards allowed and big stops at several crucial points of the game. Late in the third quarter the defense held in the red zone from 1st and goal on the Jacksonville 1 yard line to allow only a field goal, while Justin Durant picked off Peyton Manning on the Jacksonville 2 yard line in the fourth quarter also.
The offense, while showing little explosiveness, moved downfield and scored when needed. Jason Campbell showed remarkable efficiency once again, with a 111.9 QB rating and 69 percent completion percentage. The run game was solid, getting the job done in the red zone whenever needed and rarely getting stopped behind the line.
This win is a big one for Jacksonville, putting down Tennessee and cementing their competition with Houston for the AFC South. Next week Jacksonville has a tough away game against the undefeated Detroit Lions.

Jacksonville Suffers Crushing Defeat in Detroit
And like that a winning streak is broken.
With a loss to the Lions tonight, Jacksonville has had it's longest winning streak in 3 seasons ended.
With a horrific effort on defense, Jacksonville seemed to lay down and let Detroit trample all over them to the tune of 400 plus yards on offense and 48 points. Add to that Jason Campbell's several mistake passes and you get a formula for failure.
All around, a tough day for Jacksonville. Look for a possible rebound next week in a home game versus Buffalo.

Jacksonville Drops 3rd Straight
With a tough 28-17 loss to Indianapolis, Jacksonville extended their losing ways to three games at home Tuesday night.
In a game that the Jacksonville offense simply never got started, the defense managed to hold Indianapolis in several situations, only for the offense to fall short in the end.
In another blow to the team, late in the game starting corner Derek Cox was carted off the field with an injury during Quentin Groves' interception return touchdown. Cox had been a large part of the Jacksonville pass defense, and the team must make some adjustments now in an attempt to make up for the loss of Cox. Stay tuned for an update on the severity of the injury. Cox is now the second Jaguar in consecutive games to be carted off the field this season.

Jacksonville Breaks Losing Streak With Win in Cleveland
And like that it seems like Jacksonville's season may be back on track.
With a 31-21 victory of the Browns, the Jaguars proved they may yet be a playoff contender. The offense, while summarily inconsistent, moved down the field and converted in the redzone, but simply didn't put much towards the win. Jason Campbell led the offense with a very efficient pass attack (3 touchdowns, 1 interception) while the run game kept the offense moving downfield. Defensively, Jacksonville came away with four interceptions that turned the tide of the game in their favor.
Jacksonville's season may yet rest on their next game, against the Houston Texans at home. This game could decide the division.

Texans Defeat Division Rival Jaguars In Jacksonville
In a game that came down to the last couple minutes, Jacksonville fell to their division rivals in a game that could potentially decide the division. As Jacksonville falls to 5-5, Houston is now well in control with 1 8-2 record.
The game came down to the pass attack on Houston's side, with Jacksonville unable to stop Matt Schaub on his way to 300-plus passing yards. Although coming away with an interception by Justin Durant, the defense had many missed opportunities that could of turned the game in Jacksonville's favor. The run defense was decent, but did give up several big third downs that impacted the game.
On offense, Jason Campbell put up another decent game, with a 1:1 TD to INT ratio and a solid QB Rating along with a good completion percentage. Campbell was efficient in the pass game, getting yardage in several crucial situations - including two 4th downs that continued a drive that would bring the game within three points. Slot receiver Marko Mitchell and tight end Marcedes Lewis drew the most targets, with 7 receptions for 152 yards and a touchdown between them. Starters Mike Sims-Walker and Brooks Foster seemed to have a very minor impact on the game, with 3 receptions for 26 yards between the two of them. The run game, passed over due to the need to conserve the clock, was efficient when used and came away with a 7.42 yards per carry average and three touchdowns to finish off drives. The majority of the carries went to starter Kenarious Fluellen, but was ineffective compared to Rashad Jennings and Greg Jones. Jennings and Jones combined for a 11 yard per carry average.
Next week Jacksonville plays the 7-3 Vikings at home.

Vikings Defeat Jaguars in Downpour
It was a rainy game again in Jacksonville, and you know what that means. If you said slipping, poor pass accuracy, and high winds, you guessed right!
Among the rain, both teams ran decidedly more than pass, until the Jaguars went down by several touchdowns and was forced to pass. With slipping receivers, the pass game was ineffective, and Jacksonville threw four interceptions between Jason Campbell and Tony Pike.
Next week, Jacksonville takes on the tanking New York Jets in New Jersey.

Jacksonville Continues Their Losing Ways
Following an embarrassing shutout last week, Jacksonville compounded the poor finish to the season with a 52-14 loss to Green Bay at home.
Seemingly never showing up to the game, Jacksonville's offense was ineffective and produced many turnovers, while the defense seemed to be made of swiss cheese as Aaron Rodgers picked apart the pass defense all game long.
Finally out of playoff contention, Jacksonville looks to finish at .500 with a victory over Denver. Expect to see backups playing as a test for next season.

Jacksonville Ends Season on Disappointing Note
On yet another rainy, windy night in Jacksonville, the Jaguars surrendered their season to Denver on a last minute touchdown pass.
Finishing 7-9 yet again, Jacksonville came into the season looking strong, having dramatically increased the on-roster talent and beefed up the coaching staff. But half way into the season, the team looked tired and eventually fell flat on their faces in several games. With another sub-par finish, Jacksonville's roster looks ready for another off-season overhaul, hopefully this time to be successful.

Re: Jaguars News Wire
2011 Jaguars Award Winners
Coach Jack Del Rio announced the organizational award winners for 2012, while also applauding several players for winning league awards. Defensive end Jacob Ford, wide receiver Marko Mitchell, and line backer Ben Jackson all won first time Pro Bowl nominations, and fullback Greg Jones was awarded his third straight Pro Bowl. Both tight end Marcedes Lewis and strong safety Venice Young were runners-up in league awards.
MVP: CB Mike Jenkins (39 Tackles, 8 INTs)
Although not posting fantastic numbers this season, Jenkins deserves the organizational MVP honors due to his shutdown nature this season. Throughout the season he anchored the pass defense, making the number one receiver often irrelevant in games.
Offensive Player of the Year: WR Marko Mitchell (54 Receptions, 1221 Yards, 22.61 YPC, 8 TDs)
Following a strong season as 4th receiver for Jacksonville, the Mike Thomas trade allowed for an enlarged role on offense, and Mitchell performed well beyond expectations at slot receiver. Owning Pro Bowl honors, Mitchell has set himself up for a long term role in the receiver core.
Defensive Player of the Year: MLB Ben Jackson (51 Tackles, 6 Sacks, 2 FFs)
Second year starter Jackson improved yet again after his rookie season to make the AFC Pro Bowl roster. Jackson was a key part of run defense for Jacksonville, but often came off the field for pass defense packages.
Rookie of the Year: OLB Nate Crisp (7 Tackles)
In a very low impact group of rookies, it was hard to choose a candidate. Crisp served as a backup linebacker and also as a key special teams play, racking up 7 tackles during the season.
Most Improved Player: WR Marc Mariani (17 Receptions, 327 Yards, 29.24 YPC, 3 TDs)
Mariani served last season as only reserve depth, but with the departure of Mike Thomas this season, Mariani stepped into the 4th receiver role admirably. Serving as a deep threat in most situations, his speed and balanced skills combined with decent size allowed for him to make big plays and put up an amazing nearly 30 yards per catch average.
MVP: CB Mike Jenkins (39 Tackles, 8 INTs)

Jacksonville Starts Season With Tough Loss
Tuesday night proved to be a tough beginning for Jacksonville. The home opener proved to be a tough game, that would be lost in the fourth quarter 21-17. The low scoring contest was close for the entirety of the game, with the one score deficit coming at the hands of a punt return fumble by returner Deji Karim.
Offensively the team managed to move down field effectively, utilizing the pass attack with few rushing attempts, very unlike the usual smash-mouth offensive mentality. However, errors on the part of quarterback Jason Campbell led to two interceptions on the opposing side of the field following productive drives. Although the offense was effective in moving the ball, Campbell himself performed poorly - with a sub-50 percent completion percentage and 1:2 TD-INT ratio. Spreading the ball amongst seven different receivers, Campbell totaled slightly over 200 yards passing. Slot receiver Marko Mitchell showed remarkable explosiveness with a touchdown and 82 yards off of 4 receptions. Star receiver Mike Sims-Walker appeared shutdown by the Houston defense, with only a single reception for 14 yards. The run game was similarly disappointing, with a combined 42 rushing yards from starters Kenarious Fluellen and Greg Jones and goal line back Rashad Jennings.
On the other side of the ball, Jacksonville played effectively, forcing several punts on third down stands and holding the offense to less than the century mark on rushing yards. The pass game was an issue once again, but Jacksonville's defense performed decently to the tune of 160 yards surrendered. Safety Macho Harris highlighted the defenses efforts with an important interception that was returned for a touchdown.
Jacksonville hopes to bring their defensive successes into their upcoming game against Arizona at home, while also jump-starting a usually explosive offense.

Trainers looked at starting linebacker Justin Durant after the game, and MRIs showed a partial ACL tear for the former Pro-Bowler. The diagnosis was season-ending - very bad news for Jacksonville, whose defense performed admirably in the opener with Durant as an integral part. Following the game, Jacksonville head coach Warmaster announced the signings of S Tag Didier and LB Stanley Arnoux. Both should serve as depth, especially with the loss of a linebacker.

Arizona Falls to Jacksonville 31-17
On yet another rainy day in Jacksonville, the Jaguars emerged victorious in the competition with the Cardinals. A game that was close for a good portion, Jacksonville was dominant late in the game to come away with their first win of the season.
In a game mostly won by the defense, the Jacksonville offense also did their part to secure their first win. Behind a renewed smash mouth offensive strategy, Jacksonville managed to move up field well and finish drives with few glaring mistakes. The run game, totaling only 91 yards, did finish two drives with touchdowns and also helped control the game clock throughout. With another mediocre performance by Jason Campbell (13-25, 273 Yards, 2 TDs, INT) the passing game managed to get the job done, albeit with little flare. Tight end Marcedes Lewis seemed to be Campbell's favorite target, with 5 receptions and 7 targets for a touchdown, but slot receiver Marko Mitchell stole the show with 5 receptions for 126 yards. Brooks Foster also contributed with a large play late in the game - a 98 yard touchdown pass that cemented Jacksonville's lead. Normally dominant receiver Mike Sims-Walker played poorly tonight, managing zero catches and a dropped pass.
Defensively , Jacksonville did tremendously well. Holding Arizona to 17 points, this was largely due to a sub-50 percent completion percentage by Arizona quarterback Andrew Parris. Jacksonville only surrendered four first downs out of 9 third down attempts by Arizona, and held Arizona's backfield to a measly 25 yards rushing. A good pass rush, albeit without any sacks, forced Parris' hand in several situations. Jacksonville came away with three interceptions, by Mike Jenkins, Marquis Johnson, and Venice Young, while also performing admirably in pass protection. Arizona's receivers were mostly shut down, with the majority of receptions going to Arizona's backfield and tight end Munchie Cosh. All-in-all, an admirable performance for the defense coming off of a decent game in the close loss to Houston.
Next week Jacksonville takes on the 1-1 St. Louis Rams in St. Louis.

Jacksonville Enters Into Yet Another Blockbuster Trade
Today, Jacksonville head coach Warmaster announced the acquisition of receiver Ricky Medina, defensive tackle D'Anthony Smith, and a 2nd round pick in return for star receiver Mike Sims-Walker.Sims-Walker had been slumping thus far in the season, having zero catches and a dropped pass through two games. Smith returns to Jacksonville after being traded to Oakland three seasons ago. Also, in a turn of fate, Medina makes his way to Jacksonville after being drafted by Oakland using Jacksonville's pick two seasons ago.
The fate of Jacksonville's receiver corps seems uncertain now with it's only mainstay now departing. Look for changes on offense in coming weeks. In conjunction with the trade, the release of defensive tackle Louis Leonard was announced.

Re: Jaguars News Wire
Jaguars Improve to 2-0 Over Crumbling Jets
You have to be happy if you're a Jaguars fan right now. How often do you see Jacksonville go 2-0 to open the season?
On a rainy day, the team that decided to run the ball ended up winning the game. Jacksonville motored through the Jets defense behind Maurice Jones-Drew, who ran for a season high 28 attempts. Putting up an astonishing 10 yards per carry average, Jones-Drew scored three times throughout the game, including a 76 yarder in the second quarter. Fullback Greg Jones also contributed with 13 yards on three carries. Rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert did not have a good game, with a miserable 14.8 QB Rating and throwing 2 interceptions in a mere 11 passing attempts. With the offensive line creating holes in the Jets defense, it was easy for Jacksonville to just hand the ball to Jones-Drew rather than risk passing with cold quarterback Gabbert. Gabbert now has only 1 touchdown through Jacksonville's first two games, while it becomes clear that head coach Warmaster91 plans to run the ball behind dominant running back Jones-Drew.
On defense, Jacksonville's pass defenders held their own against the Jets talented receiver core, allowing only 131 passing yards and pulling in four interceptions in the process. Cornerback Rashean Mathis would take one of these interceptions back for a pick six. Other contributors include new linebacker Paul Posluszny, who had three sacks early on in the game, Clint Session and Tyson Alualu, who both contributed a sack as well.
Jacksonville hopes to keep this streak going, as they take on the Panthers and rookie phenom Cam Newton in Carolina next week.

Jaguars Keep Streak Going
On yet another rainy day in Jacksonville, two undefeated teams faced off today. Only one emerged from the game still undefeated. Now 4-0, Jacksonville won a tough one though a surprising effort from quarterback Blaine Gabbert and a rejuvenated passing attack. The victory was sealed by an interception by linebacker Paul Posluszny with mere seconds left on the clock. The defense, although allowing a total of 28 points, throughout the game forced punts from New Orleans and gave up little yardage with a couple breakaway plays.
Safety Dawan Landry performed poorly in yet another game, and faces a possible benching after allowing a big score in today's game. Rookie Chris Prosinski is a possible option to start opposite Courtney Greene at safety.

Re: Jaguars News Wire
Jaguars Lose Streak In Fantastic Fashion
The rainy Jacksonville stadium seemed a very fitting environment for Jacksonville to lose its undefeated streak in depressing style. With no offense and little defense to speak of, Jacksonville was overmatched all game long and the score really shows it.An early injury to Maurice Jones-Drew derailed the run game, although even Jones-Drew saw little success in his few snaps. Backup Rashad Jennings performed admirably in the few touches he received, although with a large deficit Jacksonville passed rather than ran the ball. Here-in lies the problem. Jacksonville's passing game this season has been mediocre at best, and with rainy conditions and and inexperienced Blaine Gabbert at the helm, the passing game flopped to the tune of three turnovers via interception and few completed passes. All game long, Jacksonville didn't have a sustained drive downfield.
Defensively, Jacksonville started off good, forcing several punts and getting to the rookie quarterback Andy Dalton frequently. However, shortly before the end of the first quarter the defense began to falter and continued to do so for another three quarters. One frequent offender was safety Dawan Landry, who has officially lost his starting job to rookie Chris Prosinski, yet was forced into action with an injury to Courtney Greene.
After this crushing defeat, Jacksonville looks to get back to business with their upcoming game against the 3-2 Pittsburgh Steelers.
